Hello friends and colleagues!
Our favorite time of the year is less than a week away – as usual there are a ton of events to choose from. Make sure to review the festival schedule and download the DesignPhilly app to make navigating the festival and building your own itinerary easy. Thank you to all of your designers, sponsors, volunteers, Board Members and Steering Committee members for once again – making this festival come alive and show off how much of a Design City Philadelphia really is. And a special thanks to our presenting sponsor, Thomas Jefferson University, who has been our presenting sponsor for the past three years. The commitment and support of tremendous partners like Jefferson, has helped our Festival grow and evolve in compelling ways.
DesignPhiladelphia Issue of CONTEXT Magazine. The issue of CONTEXT is a special DesignPhiladelphia issue that includes an insert with festival highlights. We are thrilled that Michelle Miller Fisher agreed to curate this issue. View it here or grab your copy at the Kickoff Party.
Festival Hubs. Every year we try to aggregate programming and exhibitions to allow attendees to see as much as they can in one place. This year be sure not to miss our new festival hub at Cherry Street Pier. There are over 25 exhibits and installations in the space, along with programming. In addition, our year-round hub, the Center for Architecture and Design, will host over a dozen programs and several exhibitions. will transform one of the city’s newest and most exciting public spaces, Cherry Street Pier, into the home base for this year’s festival. Presented by Jefferson University, the 10-day event will pay homage to the design history of Philadelphia and give artists and designers a platform to collaborate and share their creativity with attendees.
Kickoff Party will launch the festival into full-swing, bringing together the who’s who of design-savvy Philadelphians at Cherry Street Pier on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. The weather looks great – don’t miss the best design event of the year! For more information and tickets, click here.
