If you missed watching artist Aissulu Kadyrzhanova paint one of the best Philadelphia murals of Summer 2016, here’s your chance to be a part of our next pavement mural! Grab a paintbrush and meet us on Pearl Street!

Organized in partnership with an array of artists and community stakeholders, the Pearl Street Block Party is a neighborhood art festival that celebrates Chinatown North’s rich cultural diversity and artistic community. This year’s block party will include live performances, music, activity tables, displays, and interactive artwork by a diverse range of local artists.

ASIAN ARTS INITIATIVE is a non profit arts organization that aims to empower a diverse set of communities through art. Based out of a multi-tenant arts facility in the Chinatown North/Callowhill neighborhood, Asian Arts Initiative is a place to showcase artists and their work– performance, visual, and experiential art – that shares the Asian/Asian-American experience and contributes to positive social change. Our community-based arts initiatives use innovative models for artists to engage with local communities, with a particular emphasis on working in partnership with our immediate neighborhood. Through our Pearl Street Project, Asian Arts Initiative is engaging with our neighbors in Chinatown North/Callowhill to create a community space for outdoor programming accessible to the diverse populations in our neighborhood and beyond. The Pearl Street Project encapsulates the power of art to promote social change: through free outdoor programming, advocacy of city-sponsored and community-led street transformations, and publicly engaging art installations, this project is transforming Pearl Street into a culturally vibrant space that connects diverse communities in the Chinatown North neighborhood.
