Textile + Shelter Presented by Philadelphia University
The exhibit presents projects from the IDEA (interdisciplinary design and experimental architecture) Studio of Philadelphia University which is supported by a 2015 NCARB Award. Adapting the notion of Hundertwasser’s “HOME”, architecture, textile, fashion, and industrial design students examine the five layers of the human skin: epidermis, clothing, houses, society, and the world, at the intersection of textiles + shelter. Including work from a spring 3D textiles course and ongoing collaborative design studio, the exhibit highlights the remarkable innovations in design that merge analog, digital craft + prototyping, textile techniques + new materials with architecture. An opening and closing reception will take place.
